Hi there, my name is Stephanie, nice to meet you!
I promise I will keep the introduction short. This website is to serve as an account of my experience preparing for, during, and after, teaching English abroad in the amazing country of Thailand.
Why I chose Thailand
Upon researching the food, culture, landscape, and way of life that embodies Thailand I knew that this was the place that I wanted to begin my journey of becoming an English teacher abroad.
For almost exactly a year now I have been working towards the dream of travel, teaching, and learning more about who I am. In November I received my TEFL Certification from the International TEFL Academy and after a lot of research (I mean a LOT) I decided that my heart was pointing me towards Thailand.
So on June 20th 2017 I was accepted into the Geenheart Travel program.
My journey truly began when I studied abroad in Florence Italy my sophomore year of college in 2013. It was the first time that I had ever traveled on my own, and I was absolutely terrified. But those four months abroad taught me so much about myself, and about how big the world truly is. I learned how to get around on my own, how to embrace challenges and the beauty of new cultures and different ways of life, and met amazing friends along the way.
Since that journey nearly 4 years ago, I realized that there was something about traveling that captivated me. It pushed me to my limits in ways that I could have never anticipated, and changed me in ways that I never imagined possible. While I have so greatly valued my time working and growing in my first job as an SEO Analyst, I have finally come to realize that I still have a lot of learning that I want to do.
I want to help people, I want to learn and grow and become who I am meant to be.
So when I learned that teaching English abroad was something that I could work towards I began chasing my dream and working towards making it a reality. To hear more about what motivated me to make this dream come true you can read about why I chose to teach English abroad here.
